Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While wagering on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
