No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
