No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
