Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve closing table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While wagering on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
