No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender in the world by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
