NL Texas Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?
Howard Lederer lived in a family of 5 in which he enjoyed participating in numerous card games when he was young. He found himself becoming really competitive in these particular card games as he was playing his dad. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard decided to put college on hold for a bit and moved to New York City to participate in some formidable chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were rough as he played countless hours and lost a majority of the time. He made some additional cash by becoming an assistant for the poker players. He theorized he might better his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He brought about an attempt to acquire more rest and focus more on the game.
The real advancement in his game happened when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best gamblers would often challenge each other. He was able to access some of the foremost players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would sharpen his strategic thinking abilities. He applied these strategic concepts to the game of No-Limit Texas Holdem.
He also assisted his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of poker as she would consistently be asking questions about the right way to make the proper decision. He told Annie to move out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie Duke is one of the strongest women players the poker world today. Howard headed to Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and competed in money games for the next decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, he decided to compete in more tournaments.
