NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a normal basis.
