Howard Lederer lived in a family of five where he liked participating in numerous card games when he was young. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the greatest players would regularly compete against one another. He had access into a number of the best minds in chess. He relocated to Sin City in 1993 and competed in cash games for the following decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, he made the decision to play more tournaments.
